Assessing the Design and Impact of Criminal Justice Algorithms: Authored three academic research papers on the use of predictive algorithms in criminal justice and presented at Algorithms in Culture conference hosted by UC Berkeley.
A User-Centered Perspective on Algorithmic Personalization: Co-designed and ran an experimental survey to measure users’ attitudes towards personalization of online content; presented work at the Privacy Law Scholars Conference and Federal Trade Commission; briefed staff at House Energy & Commerce Committee.
Pythonic Poet: Co-created a sonnet-generating algorithm and a model for suggesting metaphors using Python. Presented at the North American Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics.
Evaluating Broadband Internet Access and Use in Rural California: With a team of 4, conducted field visits and interviews in Mendocino County to assess internet access and use. Piloted a survey based on qualitative interview findings.
